Q: I have been training for my first half-marathon (using this schedule) and have been having some aches and pains – nothing super serious, but I’m wondering if you have any advice for stretches or exercises for hamstring strain and runner’s knee?

A: I checked your running schedule and it looks pretty traditional. I can only guess that maybe you tried to run too hard, too soon, without proper recovery training in-between. The shins are very gentle and there is a lot of connective tissue there. Also, runners knee is common and you can do something about that, too.
