Farewell 2024, Welcome 2025
Every year I take some time to look back at it, for a last glance, to make myself able to look forward and welcome the new one. This year I’m remembering a quiet birthday, a great dream trip to Iceland, with friends, and a very intense second half where the election and politics flooded the conversations. As always I take it all in and even without a conscious selection, things that don’t matter filter out, and other things that do, remain as memories that fill my life with color.
I’ve been broken hearted by events, found surprising comfort in other parts of my life, I’ve had a few absolute firsts, and hopefully some lasts. Things that surprised me, and things that made me mad, Things that warmed me, and things that made me confused.
BABY NEWS: Even though my nephews haven’t started families yet, my best friend’s son had a baby! It was magic to hold her in my arms.
TRAVEL: Iceland was a dream destination. When we got there, we saw the erupting volcano, and it was so cold that we dumb-laughed for the whole 5 days we were there. Always to be remembered as the coldest trip ever made.
FRIENDS: I made some, I lost some, I kept the deepest one. I found that I thrive and grow in my relationships.
FAMILY: visited and filled my heart.
POLITICS: However hard it is to do that, somehow It’s important to stop and try to step in other people’s shoes.
HUMANITY: Can we do better?
I wish you a glorious end of year celebration!! Whether it’s big or small, I hope you find peace with what has been, and have curious hope for the future.
Happy Happy New Year!!
